JetHawks Sleepover

Our family went to the JetHawks game last night. It was Harry Potter and Girl Scouts night, so double win for us! Neatest part was the Girl Scouts stayed after the game and slept over on the field. So much fun for Audrey and her friends - I ended up being happy to chaperone. Girls set up tents, watched Up on the big screen, ran around playing tag and games with new friends. I think they stayed up 'til at least 2am, I fell asleep to them telling stories and giggling in their tent. In the morning they gave us breakfast, then we headed home. Super fun night for these girls, and happy our boys could join us for the game (which was pretty exciting and JetHawks won 7-5.)

This Week We...

Celebrated Shark Week - our fave!

Ladybug summer session began.

Swam lots and lots.

Birthday partied with Toby.

Beat the heat at Barnes and Noble, and Ben & Jerry's.

Got haircuts.

Started some back-to-school shopping.

Lots of lego building and video-gaming.

More ice-cream.

More swimming.
If you can believe it we only have 2 1/2 weeks of summer vacation left - gotta fit a few more fun things in, enjoy sleeping in, staying up later, and no homework!

Audrey's fall soccer team meeting/bbq (only missing Natalie.) Seems like a good group of girls and parents. Season starts August 1st.

Sadly after the pool party we came home to a busted AC. No cool air Sunday thru Wednesday in high 90 temps! Survival mode in the afternoon - treated ourselves to AC and Hotel Transylvania 3:

Luckily we had Amber's pool key this week since she was at girls camp - lots and lots of swimming!

Tyler was invited to Hurricane Harbor with his friends. Frankie's mom spoiled them - they closed the park down, then she treated them to dinner. They're a good group of kids, I'm happy they'll all be together for jr. high.

Happily AC was restored! Forts and video games at home. Kids are also watching all the Harry Potter movies except the last since Audrey's still reading.

Activity Days made lasagna from scratch with wonderful Lindsey. Such a fun activity - love these cute girls:

Also went to girls camp all day Thursday to help in the kitchen. Wow - so impressed with my wonderful friends April, Amber, and Jenny who cooked all week. Neat to see the girls having so much fun, and the incredible volunteers from church who made it all possible. Can't wait for Audrey to go when she's twelve! 

Saturday Beach Day

Gotta love a Saturday with no to-dos. Headed to Rincon, Natalie tagged along, and we found a cool fort. Finished with pizza and Dodgers. Super nice, beautiful beach day with our crew.

Coolest Zoo Day

Nick and Dawn's dad is a zookeeper at the LA Zoo, and treated us to the best Tuesday. Backstage pass to the zoo. It was the neatest. We fed and pet animals and learned so much more about the zoo we've been visiting since Tyler was a baby. Such a great day. Natalie bummed along with us, too. Here's a bazillion pictures. We fed the otters fish! One of them almost bit my glove off!

We pet and fed the hippos (who are apparently on diets - no more fruit.) We remember when the baby, Rosie, was born 4 years ago. They had kind of slimy, wet skin from the pool.

This cassowary is one of the closest relatives of dinosaurs:

Giraffes! These guys are who Nick and Dawn's dad takes care of right now.

Fed the Okapi - relative of the giraffe. He is Jackson, and was not havin' the Kale. 

Skin soft as velvet:

Gave crickets to the Forest Dragons backstage at the reptile lair. They live in the same room as all sorts of venomous snakes.

Ended the day with double merry-go-round rides. Best zoo day ever!!
