6th Grade

Lots of fun happening in 6th grade these next few weeks. Started today with the class trip to Six Flags. Tyler had so much fun! This is his group of friends who've been thick as thieves this year - Alyssa, Isabel, Tyler, Namru, Kayleigh, Frankie and Nick in the back:

Long Weekend

We've had a nice weekend with really nothing we had to do! We did fun stuff like sleep in. Yard work, walk Rey, clean and organize around the house and garage, watch the Dodgers and Black Panther movie. Audrey was invited to Thai food and rock climbing with Natalie, so Adam and I took the boys to The Habit and Lowe's trip (there are a lot of those with the burnt house.)
Sunday was a great church day, and the sister missionaries came to dinner. Monday morning I had to work, Adam took the boys to baseball, and Audrey went swimming with the Bertolas. Love these cute girls:
We all went to Solo after I got home from Ladybug - it was great!
Also - photos from the Rookie Dodgers end of season pizza party. This was a crazy fun group of boys.
Cole had an awesome season. He grew so much with his hitting and catching, and it really was great to see Adam with the boys. The whole team loved Coach Adam and were already trying to recruit him for next season.

A Few Things This Week

The Kindergarten Singalong was so adorable. Cole has had a fantastic year with Mrs. Rangel. We are so grateful for her - she's a wonderful teacher and loves her kids so much.
They sang a bunch of tear-jerker songs - at least they made me cry. My babies are growing up!
Audrey was a student helper at the school art night! She helped with chalk pastels.
Almost to the end of the school year! Awards today - Audrey got a chorus participation award.
Fun the student council helps at the awards ceremonies - Tyler got to give Audrey her award. His last three weeks of elementary school! The next time these two are in school together will be high school - Freshman and Junior year!

Weekend Stuff

The boys had a blast Father/Son camping at Vasquez Rocks with all their church friends. Didn't sleep much, but playing and hiking, games, flashlights, camp fires and s'mores - sounded like a success.
Ahhhh work on our house begins! New roof! We are painting the house a new color, so forgive the peach house for now.
Audrey had her last soccer tournament this weekend. Saturday was rough for the girls getting back into it. They lost both their games, but were in okay spirits. That night we met all these people for picnicking at the park. Stayed until dark. It was so fun. Love the history we have with this crew - friends for 13 years and counting.
Sunday's soccer games were so much better. The girls rallied and tied their first game. Then battled for the 3rd place medal and won! Great end to their tournament season.
Audrey receiving her t-shirt and pin. Team party coming soon.
In between soccer games we went to the Storm track picnic. Wanted to say thank you to coaches and pick up Audrey's trophy. Audrey's coaches also picked her for the Coaches Award! Such a surprise, and honor for Audrey. So proud of her! She had a fantastic season, and is ready to be a midget next year.
All the sports are winding down. Bittersweet is saying goodbye to the A's. Two years on this team with these boys and coaches. Tonight the boys played a parents vs. kids baseball game, then bbq and awards. It's been great playing with Coach Marc. Tyler had an awesome season - was lead-off batter, pitched a ton, played 2nd base, 1st, and outfield.
And just like that, we have nothing next Saturday! Kind of ready for activities to end, and spend some time getting our house back.

Last Couple Days

The Rookie Dodgers played their final game. They were a fantastic team - great hitters and good plays in the field. Adam was a great coach and had so much energy with the boys and keeping them focused. I think he feels pretty confident coaching this age after so many years helping Tyler's teams - it was neat to watch him. I could see Adam coaching Cole for quite a few years.
Activity Days girls and Deputy Bertola! It was a fun one this week:
Audrey's class and their buddies put on a play today - Stone Soup. It was adorable. She was a villager .
Boys are at the church father/son campout, so Audrey and I spent the evening just us (and Rey, of course.) Dinner at CPK, Audrey cuddled up and finished Ella Enchanted book while I cleaned and got ready for tournament soccer tomorrow, then the newest Cinderella movie. Lovely night with my #1 girl.
Best news this week is we hired a contractor and they started work on our roof! Progress at last!!!

Young Authors

Tyler was chosen for Young Authors this year. He really wanted it, and worked soooo hard. It's really hard to get picked, so I was happy for him when he found out. Hard work paid off. Published author right here. Proud of him - and love his story, Blockman: The Story of the Stickman.

Birthday Success

She had a wonderful day.

10!

Audrey is ten today! She's had a fantastic year - from soccer to running and chorus and piano. Her great grades and good friends. She's a bookworm, and a fabulous sister. We adore Audrey. It's the neatest thing to watch her grow and blossom.
She woke with a smile on her face to lots of presents, and picked toaster strudels for her birthday breakfast. I know the days are numbered she'll be asking for toys, but I'm glad we got to spoil her with a Calico Critter birthday this year. And tons of books. She is thrilled. Stay my little girl a bit longer....
Mother's Day was awesome with these three. How lucky am I?! They (plus Adam) took care of me plenty yesterday.
Saturday night Adam and Tyler went to the Dodgers game with the major A's.
It's bittersweet for the season to end. We've spent two seasons with some of these families and Coach Marc. Though they haven't had many wins, Tyler will absolutely leave the A's with great memories of having fun playing baseball with these boys. Not to mention how much he's improved as a player.
Coaches Marc, Bill, and Adam. Two years in a row. Adam has really enjoyed coaching with them. Last week with the A's!
