Week in Review

Here are some photos I think most capture my children this past week. Can you tell which one is on my bad side? Good thing she's so cute.

Here's the story... of a lovely lady...

Recognize this house? I guess the title gave it away. I have been walking past this house for well over a year and I always think "that house totally looks like the Brady Bunch house". Well, turns out it is! How cool is that? And it's right in my neighborhood. Very LA.

Itzy Bitzy

I love Audrey in this onesie that Emily gave us from Zutano's Itzy Bitzy line. She's so tiny and it's the only outfit she has the really fits her right now. If you have small babies like I do, it is definitely worth investing in some of their stuff. So cute....

Sweet Treat

My family is totally obsessed with these right now. We are a family with a MAJOR sweet tooth. I highly recommend giving them a try. Just make sure you buy a box (or two) when they are on sale because they are expensive for a package of six. The good news is they are pretty much guilt-free... as long as you have the discipline to only eat one.

Yummo

I made this for dinner tonight and it was delicious. It's right up my alley... loads of fresh veggies that I can find on our Saturday trip to the farmers market, and a light vinaigrette dressing. Plus I love it when I find a simple recipe full of vegetables that Tyler will eat! I did get some help from the store with the carrots and snap peas. I served it just like Carrie suggested and bought some yummy bread from Trader Joe's. We finished it off with lemonade and Tyler's favorite dessert, watermelon. The perfect summer dinner.

A Toddler's Paradise

Grandma and Grandpa Tait's backyard is a little bit of heaven on earth for Tyler. There is a pond and a little bridge, nice green grass, and did I mention dirt galore?! There are cherry trees and a porch swing. The next door neighbors have chickens and rabbits to watch through the fence. You can even catch lizards. And of course there are all the rocks and sticks a little two-year-old boy can get his hands on. Seriously.... it is heaven.

Push Present

Have you heard of the push present? Apparently it is all the rage in Hollywood now that it's so "in" to have a baby. Well, when I was pregnant with Audrey (and probably because I was reading too many Us Weeklys), I decided that I needed a push present. I knew exactly what I wanted and made it really easy for Adam by pretty much telling him what to get me (so romantic, huh?). I had coveted my friend Kristy's necklace when I had last seen her in LA. I shopped and shopped around, and thought that maybe I would have mine custom made, similar to what she did. Then thanks to this post on Tales from the Crib I found Kelly Couture. I love all the great pieces of jewelry she has in her Etsy shop and her prices are great. (Side note: if you've never checked out Etsy you totally should... it's such a cool site). I ordered the Circle-of-Life necklace with my kids names on it and a Swarovski crystal instead of the pearl (from Adam of course), and I couldn't be happier with the finished product. I get compliments on it wherever I go. What is even better is that Kelly is a friend of a friend, and who doesn't like to support other friends in their business endeavors. So thank you Adam for my push present. And believe me, after how Audrey came into the world I SO deserve it!

Tyler's Bed

Thanks to my mom (known as G-Mom to the grandkids) we were able to get Tyler's new bed together when she was visiting last week. Adam put the bed together and we bought some bedding (and of course a few new stuffed animals) to get Tyler all pumped up for it. He loves the bed in theory. He has maybe taken three or so naps in it, and has slept in it at night once, only to come in our room and ask for his crib at about 4am. So I'd say we are about 80% crib, 20% bed. But that's okay... no rush. And don't you just love the closed-eye toddler smile in that bottom picture!

Let's GO Lakers!

Come on Lakers! Get your act together! Don't you know how many NBA basketball games I've watched this season to appease my husband - your biggest fan. Don't you know how happy he would be (and I would be) if you could just win this thing already. We all thought you were the ones to beat, but you're letting us down. Maybe it's just Boston's year, but if there is anything you can do to win even one more game (and make this series a little more exciting for those of us who aren't in it "for the love of the game") that would be great. And if not, just get it over with already so I can have my TiVo back and subject my husband to hours of trashy summer reality television. Thanks... and Go Game Five!

Give me a Tylenol... and while you're at it pass me a Diet Coke

These are my two drugs of choice while surviving these first few weeks of baby #2. It's only fair that I include the not-so-pretty parts of motherhood if I'm going to post photos of my perfect, beautiful children. Yesterday was a great day. We got out the door on time. Tyler was laughing and having fun. Audrey didn't fuss too much. I was well rested. The day before that was an awful day. I mean a can't-get-through-it-without- two-cans-of-diet-coke kind of day. I was going on about three hours sleep. Audrey wasn't sleeping. Adam and I were cranky. I was snapping at Tyler. Poop was up her back. Spit-up was in my hair. Bad. Very bad. I think I must've cried at least two or three times. Why is it that you have to have a bad day in order to have a good one? I guess that's just part of it. That's what I would tell any of my friends with a new baby. It's just part of it. There are so many people who stop me to "ooh and ahh" over Audrey who say things like, "Cherish this time" and "There is nothing like a newborn". And it's true. I would love to hold Tyler as a newborn again and cuddle him in my arms. Now he is so big and time is flying and somedays I can't get him to stop long enough to give me a hug. Do I miss the sleep deprivation. No. The spit-up on everything. Nope. Changing diapers ten times a day. Oh no. So even though she smells more like spit-up than "newborn smell" and she's given me more than one sleepless night in her first four weeks of life, I will stop and smell her little head, feel her soft skin, and enjoy my afternoon naps with little Audrey in my arms. Just make sure my bottle of Tylenol is full and there is an ice cold Diet Coke in the fridge!

And then there were two...
